AWARDING BODIES

In order for a qualification to be recognised by the National Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) and transferable between courses, institutions and occupations, it must be accredited through one of the UK Awarding Bodies, which are regulated by three government appointed statutory education bodies.

An Awarding Body not only provides courses that lead to recognised qualifications, they provide an approval process for independent training providers, who meet a required standard, to be able to award qualifications that are accredited by that Awarding Body.

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI)

We are an accredited centre for the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and an approved provider of their qualifications. They are the only chartered professional body in the UK dedicated to promoting the highest standards in management and leadership excellence and currently have over 86,000 individual members. They are the only chartered body in the UK that awards management and leadership qualifications, and the only body that awards the Chartered Manager, the hallmark of any professional manager.

Once a learner is registered on to a CMI programme they will be invited to join the Institute, which will be making a statement about their standards and determination to continue to develop their management skills. The Institute has been established for over 50 years and supports and advises both individuals and companies, on issues pertaining to management. They are very effective in lobbying policy makers and are key influencers in the management profession. 

The Institute of Leadership and Management

We are an accredited centre for the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and an approved provider of their qualifications. The Institute is the UK’s largest management body, combining industry-led qualifications and specialist member services.

Last year over 90,000 Institute of Leadership and Management qualifications were delivered and over 30,000 ambitious management professionals secured professional recognition and support through ILM membership.

ILM formed in November 2001 through the merger of the Institute of Supervision and Management (ISM) and NEBS Management (National Examining Board for Supervision & Management).

City and Guilds

Focus Management for Business are delighted to be an accredited centre for City and Guilds and an approved provider of their qualifications in subject areas such as Customer Service, Business and Administration and Business Improvement Techniques. The City and Guilds group has a very long and proud history of dedication and innovation in vocational learning. They were originally founded in 1878, gained their Royal Charter from Queen Victoria in 1900 and today the group is the UK’s leading vocational awarding organisation, awarding over 1.9 million certificates each year.

We have a long and established relationship with City and Guilds and support development in new subject areas that help businesses gain more relevant qualifications.

Institution of Occupational Safety and Health

This year Focus Management for Business became an accredited centre for the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and an approved provider of Managing Safely and Working Safely, two newly developed approaches to Health and Safety learning. IOSH is the chartered body for health and safety professionals, originally founded in 1945 and today has over 38,000 members in 85 countries. IOSH are the world’s largest professional health and safety organisation.
